Sri Subramania Yatheendraal was not only a great thinker and the noblest Advaitik philosopher, he was undoubtedly
an inspired CHAMPION of HINDUISM. Sri Yatheendraal is not an individual… HE was an “INSTITUTION” in himself
and a “LIBRARY” as quoted by Maha Periavaa.
Sri Yatheendraal had his
studies under Sri Raju Sastrigal of Mannargudy. He learnt various Darshanas, such as Mimamsa, Vedanta Nyaya,Sahita Vyakarna
all of which were exacting of immense efforts to reach perfection, which is very much evident in the following sloka in Sanskrit:
“SARVAKAMADRUSHADSARA
SARVANKASHA MAHAMATHIN VIDHYODHI DADHISAHA:KEERTHYAVANTHE MATHRU MATHAMAHAN:::” (meaning:Maha Acharyarana en Kolluthathavai
vanangukindren)
Sri Subramania Sastrigal
started "Veda Padasala at Mannargudy and taught Vedas etc. Sri Andavan Swamigal Srirangam,Karungulam Krishnasastrigal Srivatsa
Somadeva Sarma,Mannargudy Ramu sastrigal, Veppathur Ramachandra sastrigal were His students.
Later, Sri Subramania Sastrigal started ARYA SAMAJAM at Siddhamalli village and conducted Hindu Religion and Dharma
to all. Also invited Pandits from all over India and awarded "Sannath" to them.
In 1896 when Sri Sankaracharya
Swamigal of Kamakoti Peetam, the 66th Peedathipathi, started "ADVAIDHA SABHA' for the first time. Sri Subramania Sastrigal of Siddhamalli attended the 'Sadas' at Kumbakonam along with Sri Raju Sastrigal
of Mannargudy. About 500 Vedic Pandits attended the Sadas and formed the principles of the Sabha. Sri Subramania Sastrigal
participated in all these events and worked hard for the Hindu Society which
was appreciated by one all. It should be mentioned here that at that time, Sri Subramania Sastrigal was only THIRTY YEARS
OLD.
Sri Subramania Sastrigal
was the President, Board of Trustees in various temples like Sri Mandrapureeswarar Devasthanam, Koilur etc.
Sri Kulasekaraswamy Temple
situated 1 mile west of Siddhamalli Agraharam, was, then, in a dilapidated condition, during
Chola King Kulothunga IV. New temple was constructed by Sri Abhirama Bhattar in early 17th Century and His favourite Goddess
ABHIRAMI was installed in the present temple. Sri Subramania Sastrigal donated
huge lands to the temple for 'anna neiveidhyam' and administered the temple as per Agama Principles.
